We use the following routine each day to create structure and learning opportunities for all the children. Throughout the day the children have free flow play indoors and outdoors, engaging with the learning activities carefully prepared by staff. Activities are tailored to children’s personal interests.
8-9am
(Long days) children arrive for free flow play and activities.
9-9.30am
(Short days) children arrive and join the free flow play and activities.
9.55am
We give the children five minutes to warm up before tidy up time at 10am. This supports them to begin to disengage with the activity they are currently doing. |
10.05am
Circle time. |
10.30am
Snack time. A range of healthy snacks are made available alongside water and milk. Children wash hands and eat their snacks family style, around a table. They are encouraged to serve themselves, ensuring everyone gets their fair share. |
11.00am
Free flow play and activities. |
11.50am
Five minutes to warm up towards tidy up time at 11.55am. |
12-12.30pm
Lunch time – again, the children sit together family style at the table and eat with the adults. They are encouraged to serve themselves, ensuring everyone gets their fair share. |
12.30pm
Preparing for nap time or quiet time for the children who are not sleeping. |
12.40pm
Nap time starts and the sleeping children are monitored. The children who aren’t sleeping move to the garden for stories and calm activities. |
1.30pm
Free flow play and focused outdoor time. The sleeping children are carefully monitored and wake through-out the afternoon |
3.00pm
Home time for some children (short days). |
4.00pm
Tea time. A range of healthy foods are made available alongside water and milk. Children wash hands and eat their tea family style, around a table. They are encouraged to serve themselves, ensuring everyone gets their fair share. |
4.30pm
Free flow play and activities. |
