We are a parent-led nursery who offer high quality childcare at affordable rates. At Friendly Families Nursery, our fees include freshly served meals for all children. We offer childcare from 8am – 6pm, five days a week. We offer the following sessions:

• Full day sessions, 8am – 6pm,
• Short day sessions, 9am – 3pm.

In developing our fees we have worked closely with local parents through meetings, conversations, workshops and an online survey. Our research has shown that local families want:

• affordable, high quality care
• flexibility to use their ‘free hours’
• longer sessions than just 3 hours per day
• childcare that is available across the year, not just school term time
• care that doesn’t distinguish between children on free hours and families that are paying for their care
• transparency about costs

To ensure that our nursery is affordable and accessible to as many local families as possible we want to ensure that our fees are low. We also offer ‘free hours’ only places.

We have worked with our partner and landlord, Peabody Housing Association to ensure we have low rent. We have registered as a charity to operate as a not for profit organisation, with local parents acting as directors of the charity.

The largest cost of the nursery is staff wages. We know that good terms and conditions for staff has a positive impact on the quality of the care provided and reduces the levels of staff turnover. That’s why we are ensuring that the childcare professionals who work at the nursery are paid a fair wage.

We require that families use a minimum of two sessions per week. Our nursery is open 50 weeks of the year. We close for the Bank Holidays and two weeks over Christmas. The fees for 3 and 4 year olds are slightly lower than for 2 year olds because younger children require more staff to care for them.

If your child is aged 2, 3 or 4, you may be eligible for free childcare, paid for by the government. We are happy to offer free childcare to eligible families, as well as Tax Free Childcare and childcare vouchers. For information about the support available with paying for childcare, please feel free to contact us or visit http://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk. There is also more information about support with paying for childcare here.

Some of our parents will make a regular commitment at the nursery as a classroom helper (for one day a week, 9am – 3pm). These parents are not charged for the day that they volunteer and receive a 15 per cent discount on their fees.
