Our settling-in approach is gentle and very effective. The process usually takes less than two weeks from beginning to end, though families are welcome to take as long as they need to settle their children with full support from our staff.

We understand that the first week or so at a new nursery can be an intense time for both child and parent as they get used to a new setting and a new routine. We approach the settling in period carefully, building up time spent at the nursery slowly.

The schedule below is a guide but we understand that all children are different. By being flexible and responsive to children/s emotional wellbeing we hope to make the settling in process as enjoyable and stress free as possible for all.

Example settling in procedure

Monday: 9.30 am to 11 am. Parent and child come in for 1.5 hours. Parent to stay with their child in the nursery room exploring the environment and engaging with staff members. Parent will complete their child’s introduction paperwork with the key person or nursery manager.

Tuesday: 9.30 am to 11 am. Parent and child come in for 1.5 hours. Parent to stay with their child helping them to explore the nursery but on day two the parent can leave for a short period of time (maximum of 30 minutes), staying close by in case they are needed.

Wednesday: 9.30 am to 1 pm. Child and parent to stay for lunch with us (12pm). Parent to stay with their child helping them to explore the nursery but as on day one the parent can leave for a short period of time (maximum of 60 minutes), staying close by in case they are needed.

Thursday: 9.30 am to 2 pm. As above, however, on day four, depending on how settling in is going, parent may leave for a short period or for most of the session.

Friday: 9.30 am to 3pm. As above, however, on day five, depending on how settling in is going, parent may leave for most or all of the session.
